Practical Distribution Transformers: Operation and Maintenance Training Course
Course Overview:
This course provides in-depth knowledge of distribution transformers, their operation, maintenance, protection and types.
Participants will learn transformer theory, vector groups, efficiency, parallel operations and special designs such as k-factor transformers for harmonics issues.
Safety measures, oil testing, electrical tests and maintenance including preventive maintenance will also be covered.
It is suitable for electrical power engineers, supervisors and qualified distribution system technicians and enables them to operate and maintain transformers in power systems properly thus maximizing the performance and reliability of the distribution transformers.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the operation of a distribution transformer.
- Explain different types of transformers.
- Special transformer under harmonics.
- Explain the testing performed on a distribution transformer.
- Describe the operation of load tap changers.
- Describe the types of preventive maintenance performed on a distribution transformer.
