Power Electronics: Devices, Control Applications, Maintenance and Testing Course
Course Overview:
This course designed carefully will provide the essential skills and knowledge necessary to master Power Electronics, starting with an in-depth analysis of power semiconductor switches and their components, and going all the way to their applications, converters and comparison analysis to traditional constructs.
It identifies problems like high harmonics and low power factors while stating the benefits sound electronics systems overlap traditional ones. Students will learn about conversion and manipulation of AC and DC power as well as practical concepts like operating, adjusting or debugging power electronics systems used across industries.
Electric specialists and engineers working on UPS systems, motor controls or any power utility will benefit from the course which will help them learn how to maintain future devices with high accuracy and efficiency.
Course Objectives:
This course is designed to introduce the subject of Power Electronics with a concentration on the:
- Latest advances developments and availability of power semiconductor switches. Proper selection of the type and ratings of the power switch to match the requirements of a certain application will also be investigated.
- Basic merits of Power Electronics converters over the conventional counterparts. Drawbacks of Power Electronics, which are, mainly, the reduction of the input power factor and the generation of considerable load and line harmonics, will also be highlighted.
- Rectification, Chopping, and Inversion processes required for DC and AC power conditioning. This will include power circuits, control topologies, conduction patterns, analysis, and evaluation of the performance parameters of the corresponding controllers.
Who Should Attend?
This course is strongly recommended for Electrical, Electromechanical, and Industrial Engineers and Technicians, who involved in any AC or DC power conditioning system including, but not limited to, power utilities, VVVF speed control of electric motors, and UPS system.
Course Outlines:
- Teaches how to operate, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic components, circuits, and systems used in machine applications.
- Convenient, portable trainer allows for on-the-go exploration of the fundamental concepts of industrial power and control electronics, such as measuring temperature, speed, and analog signals.
- Exclusive Fault Pro troubleshooting software includes 30 unique faults that present realistic situations that technicians encounter on the job, such as troubleshooting power supply, an open-loop operational amplifier circuit, a pressure sensing device, and more.
