High Voltage Electrical Safety Course
Course Overview:
This course gives you an introduction to high voltage electrical systems and teaches you methods to manage and operate such systems safely, maintaining compliance to US regulations and industry safety codes.
Students will be able to carry out high voltage testing, tagging, inspections, and grounding of systems and devices. Students are also taught proper procedures for locking up and tagging of tools. Knowledge on how to properly operate high voltage testers is also covered in this course.
This course offers information on compliance with OSHA, NFPA and European codes pertaining to electrical safety.
This course is effective for power engineers, industrial electricians, electrical engineers, technicians, and even supervisors who deal with up to 138 kV transmission lines by giving them insights on electrical risk factors, ways to prevent accidents, and proper work practices.
Course Objectives:
This program is designed for maintenance personnel responsible for High Voltage electrical systems Dynamic and highly concentrated, this course places maximum emphasis on safety when working on or near energized electrical equipment Upon the successful completion of this course,
Participants will be able to:-
- Properly identify voltage levels, controls, and safety distances
- Conduct proper inspections
- Apply Lockout/Tag-out procedures and use equipment
- Ground equipment properly
- Use high voltage testers
- Identify and comply with the appropriate OSHA, NFPA, and European standards and regulation
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for electrical engineers, test technicians, industrial & utility electricians, technicians, and engineers exposed to voltages 138 KV & below. Supervisors or managers concerned with the safety of electrical workers will find this course especially useful in providing an insight into electrical safety. Course participants are introduced to the hazards of electrical work and the philosophies of preventing accidents and minimizing outage time due to improper safety or work practices. Also included as part of the curriculum are study materials participants may use at their own pace to continue their learning experience. This course addresses OSHA training requirements established in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269
