Design, Testing and Maintenance of Industrial Substations Course
Course Overview:
This course goes deeper into HV/MV substations, giving insights into their design, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance. Different types of substations, their components, grounding systems and protection systems such as overcurrent and earth fault protection are also studied.
The course encompasses testing techniques, fault calculations and modern high-voltage switchgear operations.
The course is specifically designed for engineers, supervisors and consultants and focuses on practical skills in commissioning, automation and system studies for effective reliable management of substations.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Design, install, commission, test, operate, control, and maintain HV/MV substations in a professional manner
- Identify the various types of substations covering its parts, equipment, and major components
- Recognize over current protection for phase and earth faults as well as the recommended grading intervals
- Employ proper commissioning covering pre and cold commissioning, start-up, hot commissioning, the start of production, performance test, and acceptance of plant
- Perform testing procedures and basic calculations
- Illustrate medium voltage switchgear and oil circuit breakers
