Course Overview:
This course focuses on power electronics; more specifically, switching devices, and power conversion systems. Different switching devices, their characteristics, circuit topologies, and the effects of interconnecting sources and loads will be discussed and studied.
The course provides the necessary skills to design and select basic converters, and to maintain and test power electronic devices as well as apply those technologies into real-world scenarios.
This is an essential course for technicians and engineers within an electrical utility, motor drive, or renewables environment, aiming to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to solve practical power electronics problems, being a combination of classroom theory and practice.
