Advanced Operation of Digital (SMART) Transmitters and Valve Controllers Course
Course Overview:
The course introduces various aspects of digital instruments and smart control valves, including configuration and maintenance.
Engagements will include learning the difference between the four types of devices used to collect data and understand the concept of a digital signal hoist and proto-industrial control systems.
The practice includes the installation, maintenance, and testing of smart field devices, control valves with digital controllers, and multivariable transmitters. Topics of interest include HART, digital signal transmission, sensory tools, etc.
This course is especially useful for valve mechanics, maintenance personnel and master who work with instruments, as it provides skills to operate modern industrial control valves and integrated with multipurpose controllers instruments implemented in modern industrial systems.
Course Objectives:
- Differentiate between analog and digital instruments
- Formulate how digital signal sampling works in digital instruments
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of digital instruments
- Identify the effects of using digital instruments in closed-loop control
- Configure, re-range, and calibrate smart/digital field devices
- Configure and calibrate control valves fitted with digital valve controllers
- Test the capabilities of HART™ communication
- Test the operation of a digital multivariable transmitter
- Test the operation of multi-drop transmitter applications
- Communicate with digital devices utilizing computer-based software
- Test diagnostic capabilities of digital valve controllers
